5 Reasons Why You Should Put Name Stickers on Your Child’s Toys

Sticky name labels can be used for almost anything, from lunch boxes to pencil cases, labels can help your child keep track of their belongings. Parents tend to put personalised name stickers on things that they think are important, like school bags or school supplies, but have you thought about putting labels on things that matter most to your little tots?

Kids love their toys, and every kid has their favourite one. Maybe its the small robot with the broken arms, or that pink pony that looks exactly like the others. No matter which one it is, they’ll always refuse to go to sleep without it, or even let it go for one second. So why stick a personalised name label on it, right? Well, here are 5 reasons why you should label your children’s toys.

1. Help your child become more open to sharing their toys

If you have a toddler, then there’s a big chance that you’ve been to a play date. If you have, then you should know that getting your kid to share their toys can be a challenging task.

Most of the time, parents think that their kids just don’t like sharing their things, but oftentimes, them not sharing comes from a place of fear. To parents, it may be just another robot or another doll, but to them, it’s their most prized possession. If you look at it this way, you would understand why your child has a hard time sharing, but when you label your child’s toy, your child will see that other kids will recognise the owner of that toy. This makes it easier for your child to share.

2. Identify toys that look exactly the same

There’s always a hot new toy that your kids will always ask you to buy for their birthday or for Christmas, and chances are, there are hundreds of other kids who will want the exact same toy. So when bring-a-toy-to-school day comes, there will be multiple children who will come to school with the toy your son or daughter has.

Which gives you all the more reason to put name stickers on your kid’s toy, so they’ll come home with exactly the same toy they went to school with. If not, they might end up with someone else’s and even if they do, they will know the difference. Labeling your kids’ toys will save you from the hassle of explaining to your kids that their toy has gone to another home.

3. Lost toys will eventually turn up

No matter how much your child loves his or her toy, there will come a time when they will accidentally leave their toy sitting somewhere.

Like Buzz Lightyear and Woody from the Toy Story movie, toys get lost, but they eventually come back. Remember Andy’s name at the bottom of Woody’s boot? We’re not saying that toys walk around whenever we’re not looking, but toys with labels on have a higher chance of being returned.  Using name labels for kids on toys makes it easier for playmates and other parents to return the toy. When your child leaves it in the daycare centre, teachers and staff can just return your child’s toy the next day. If an unlabelled toy gets forgotten, it’s just going to end up in the “lost and found” bin and no child would want that.

4. Teach kids to not take what doesn’t belong to them

Have you found yourself cleaning your kid’s room and finding that their inventory seems to have increased?

This is a common occurrence in many households. Some kids get so fond of a toy they find in school that they take it with them. Thinking that since the toy doesn’t belong to anybody, they take it home instead. But it’s not healthy behaviour, and could get worse if you fail to address it.

Using name stickers can help you in addressing this matter in a subtle way. Put on name stickers on all their toys and tell them that their toys have their name on it so they could only take home what belongs to them.

5. Put name stickers on your kids' toys to your advantage

Kids have a way of telling which toy belongs to them. Wouldn’t it be great if you had a way to do the same?

Luckily, you can easily slap name stickers on toys to make it easier for you to identify which toy belongs to which child. It will not only make it easier for when tidying up. Your kids will also adore you for knowing which toy belongs to him or her.

This will help prevent confusion and conflict not only in your home but also in schools and play areas. Imagine all the conflict you can avoid with teachers and other parents by just simply putting a name sticker on your child’s toy.
